Solidarity greetings to the United Auto Workers, UAW, on your "historic strike" against the "Big Three"

18 September 2023: Dear Shawn Fain, Dear colleagues of the UAW, It is with great respect that international media are reporting the start of your "historic strike." Your demand for a 40 percent wage increase, for the reinstatement of eliminated social benefits, and for a 32-hour workweek, 4 days a week, are just and long overdue. It is the outrageous arrogance of the international monopolies, which rake in huge profits and then claim that wage increases would drive them into bankruptcy. Your simultaneous strike against the Big Three, GM, Ford and Stellantis, is a most promising and courageous struggle that has already received worldwide attention and great solidarity. It is of high significance that you, as a major automotive union, have taken up this challenge head-on. In doing so, you have breathed new life into the reawakened American labor and trade union movement. Your fighting spirit radiates across borders worldwide.

IAC Ford Info Letter 1/23

Overview Ford colleagues from Spain, France, Venezuela and Germany had positioned themselves in spring 2022 with a resolution against the war in Ukraine, against war and armament policies of their own governments and for active resistance (see Infobrief 1/22).

Ford Valencia Spain: Call for solidarity against repression

10 May 2023: Colleagues write to the International automotive workers' coordination asking for solidarity against the repression they suffer. "As you know, at Ford Valencia we are immersed in a collective dismissal (ERE) for more than 1,100 colleagues. We (STM) did not sign that ERE for various reasons, but mainly because it was not guaranteed that there would not be a single traumatic exit. Time is proving us right and the company, with the complicity of its servile union, is using absolutely mafia tactics so that people are forced to take advantage of incentivized redundancies (much cheaper than "early retirement").

Strikers at VDL Nedcar show teeth

8 May 2023: Thank you for the following interview with strikers at VDL Nedcar in the Netherlands, which we received from a correspondent of Rode Morgen in the Netherlands. The colleagues are currently on strike for an improved social plan. In Germany, there are many experiences how strikes for social plans or transfer companies ultimately undermined the fight for the preservation of jobs or against a plant closure. In our declaration of solidarity from ICOG to the workforce and union at VDL Nedcar, we therefore speak out in favor of the fight for every job and for the 30-hour week with full wage compensation. The International Automotive Workers' Coordination will continue to stand with the VDL Nedcar workforce in the fight for their jobs.

Spontaneous strike at Nedcar Born Netherlands - 48h-strike up from May 8

May 3, 2023: Correspondence: At VDL Nedcar in Born more than 3,000 jobs are at risk, something the workers rightly do not accept. They are demanding that parent company Van der Leegte (VDL) come up with a solid and good social plan. The entire factory opened this morning and at eight o'clock, without any prior warning, all employees collectively laid off work.

International workers' unity against the danger of world war, environmental destruction and the shifting of the burden of war and crisis onto our backs!

Call of the International Coordination Group for April 28 and May 1, 2023: 18 April 2023: Dear colleagues, Let us make May Day our common international day of struggle! After the beginning of the imperialist war in Ukraine more than a year ago, the danger of a nuclear Third World War has grown at an accelerated pace. Putin is openly threatening to use nuclear weapons. Ukraine is being massively armed by the USA/EU/NATO. Parts of the international car companies and their suppliers have already become profiteers of the war. In Russia, any resistance to the war is suppressed. Trade union leaders in Belarus who declared their opposition to the war have been sentenced to prison. We demand their immediate release and declare our full solidarity with them.

Call for March 8, 2023: Together for woman's liberation !

March 1, 2023: "Women and girls of the world! Our time has come!" reads the final resolution of the 3rd International World Women’s Conference of Grassroots Women in Tunis in September 2022, which was also attended by a delegation of the International Automotive Workers' Coordination. Women do not want to be victims, but actors. In Iran, despite the greatest repression by the Mullah regime, many women and men are courageously standing up for democracy and freedom.

Solidarity against the dismissal of Mancha, our member of the International Coordination Group and militant trade unionist, by GM Brazil

16 November 2022: On Thursday, November 10, 2022, GM Brazil terminated trade unionist Luiz Carlos Prates (called Mancha) after 35 years of service at the São José dos Campos plant. Mancha is known as a militant labor and union leader far beyond the plant's borders and Brazil. He has been organizing GM workers at São José dos Campos for better working and living conditions for decades. At the forefront, Mancha fought to successfully vote out fascist President Bolsonaro. Mancha stands for international workers' solidarity, for the common struggle of colleagues and trade unionists at GM. Mancha organized solidarity strikes against the closure of the Opel plant in Bochum.

International Day of Environmental Struggle in Paris

Nov. 12, 2022: 20 delegations from 15 countries held a militant tribunal in Paris on Nov. 12 at the Place de la Republique, with representatives from the International Automotive Workers' Coordination. Deliberately, this tribunal took place at the site of the failed climate agreement. One speaker said, "27 UN climate conferences mean 27 conferences full of empty promises!" The call was made by the revolutionary world organization ICOR and the anti-imperialist and anti-fascist United Front.

12 November 2022: International Day of Environmental Struggle: Workers and Environmental Movement together against the destruction of the environment by capitalist greed for profit and the consequences of imperialist war

3 November: The International Coordination Group is deeply concerned about the accelerating destruction of the environment and the natural resources of humanity. Destruction of the earth's basic resources, such as deforestation of the Amazon jungles, global warming with the consequences of droughts and floods, rising levels of the world's oceans, rapid loss of biodiversity and outbreaks of pandemics have already cost thousands of lives. Millions of people are losing their livelihoods and becoming environmental refugees.
